![]() ![]() I know right? I very much enjoy any sort of romance element in games, but when it comes to gameplay they're always so structured in making the right dialogue choices or giving gifts that a character would like. The modding capability even allows for tailoring and changing up the gameplay experience in a way the Sims can't, with the added benefit that I can squeeze an in-game week out of Rimworld in the same time it takes 1-2 days to pass in the Sims 3 when both are bloated with mods.Ībout the only knocks I can give it in that aspect is that the setting limits the background options of your roleplaying, though I enjoy the otherworldly space theme that much more than suburbia, and that I can't meticulously have a pawn romance someone the way a sim can, but I'm just going to live with the fact that only the Sims can really scratch my romance itch outside of visual novels and dating sim elements. Having the colony grow and thrive to watch the interpersonal relationships play out is great, and the struggle being driven by the storyteller is perfect since I like seeing them struggle without being the direct cause of their suffering. Gotta agree there, I think I finally got into Rimworld after being underwhelmed buying the Sims 4 base game last year and it honestly has everything I want in a life simulation game to the point where it's replaced the Sims 3 for me.
