What you're looking at plus a wind break would do the job if you're just doing weekenders in fair weather. It's more suited to extended trips in rough weather i'd say where you're just rehydrating meals/ making coffee. Easy to do with the piezo built in though. Also compatible with all companion cups, Frypan and 1.5 L cooking pot. It packs down really well with everything including the gas slotting inside for easy storage when you're done.Ĭooking is possible but trickier, the vertical pot doesn't suit simmering but you can do pasta etc by keeping the heat on low and just turning it off for a min at a time whilst stirring. Burner assembly replacement for Flash Cooking System. Good for extended hikes where you're exhausted at the end of the day. Even in rough weather you can very easily get it going (can see it's lit unlike an msr windburner), load it with water and leave it sitting until the indicator goes and you're ready to make food. I've the jetboil zip and have used it for a week at a time in northern sweden etc. For example: For a video comparing different gear the "TLDW" comment should contain, at a minimum, the list of gear compared, and a basic overview of how the review is conducted. White Screen virus is a malware program and once your computer is infected with it, your screen becomes white, your Keyboard doesn’t respond and you cannot work with your computer at all. This means the the first subnet starts at zero and the second subnet starts at 128. This results in two /25 subnets with 126 hosts each įrom Step 1B, We know the new subnet mask is a /25 and there are 7 host bits remaining (equating to 128 in decimal).ġ28 is our host block size per subnet. The borrowed host bit is added to the network bits and also subracted from the host bits. 1 host bit is required to obtain 2 subnets (Binary Exponents = 2^1 = 2)ī. Step 1: Borrow (or take) the number of host bits required to obtain the amount of subnets needed.Ī. So, if you are given the 192.168.1.0/24 network and asked to subnet it into 2 separate subnets.here's how to do it: Initially I was going to explain using the full binary method But since it seems that many people don't understand binary, I decided not to.ġ92.168.1.1/24 is a host IP address that is part of the 192.168.1.0/24 network. This one is only here to emphasize that when you go below /24 subnet mask 255.255.255.0 becomes 255.255.0.0 and the hosts start counting back up and the subnets start counting down from 128. This one has no subnet or network address so you don't subtract 2. Realistically, If you can remember CIDR /30 and CIDR /24 you're golden, remember that:Ĭounting down from CIDR /30 the Hosts double and the subnets half.Ĭounting up for CIDR /24, the hosts half and the subnets double.Īlso, there is a Cisco specific /31 CIDR which for a point to point connection between two routers. Messer does the subtraction first which is why his table looks weird and confusing. Just remember this table:ĭon't forget to subtract two hosts, the first address in the subnet is the network address and the last is the broadcast. Just really stressed out about the subnetting part of the course material.Īctually, Messer over-complicates it. I was honestly thinking of grabbing that cheat sheet and memorizing the crap out of it so it would be burned into my head for the subnetting questions on the exam. The cheat sheet showed how many networks, hosts, subnet mask, how many IPs, and CIDR. There was a subnet cheat sheet in a earlier course I took (MTA networking fundamentals if you’re familiar with that) that had some very basic subnetting. So actually “assigning” and finding out what the subnet mask will be (or network ID) is the toughest part for me. For example I had a school assignment where I had to find out a block of IP addresses and subnet mask from what I knew about from a. The concept I have a hard time with is actually breaking it down. I know when you start to go down CIDRs (like if you go from a /24 to /23 it will be 255.255.255.224) and it’s all done in binary. So when it comes to subnetting IPs I know you will have a starting address like 192.168.1.1 /24 (which is 255.255.255.0) I know the subnet masks for CIDRs /8 /16 /24. What did you do to hard wire the subnetting process into your head?ĮDIT: I’ll explain everything I know so far. I’ve been watching professor messer seven second subnetting which kind of makes sense. I’m really struggling with Net+ subnetting. r/CompTIA holds no responsibility for certification nullification which may be caused by visiting links submitted to this subreddit.Īsking for, or posting links to Braindumps, Unauthorized reproduction of testing material, copyrighted material or other content that is in violation of the CompTIA Candidate Agreement will result in removal of post, up to being banned from this community. Mark Proett was an engineer whose utility patent was for B&D's Model 9321 cordless vacuum cleaner, called the Spot Vac, a component of the Mod 4 series of power tools (shrub trimmer, lantern, grass shear, drill, and Spot Vac), all powered by a single, rechargeable, and interchangeable "energy pak" handle with batteries. Mark Proett and Carroll Gantz are listed as the inventors on the utility and design patents, respectively, assigned to Black & Decker for a cordless vacuum cleaner. The Black & Decker DustBuster (now stylized as DUSTBUSTER) is a cordless vacuum cleaner that was introduced in January 1979. For our Value rating we gave the vacuum a 7/10 because we feel that its size and convenience come at a decent price.Wikipedia Rate this definition: 0.0 / 0 votes For our Professional rating we gave this tool a 6/10 since its purpose is really geared for the homeowner and mostly only small tasks. With some great features like an easy to clean re-usable filter and a built in crevice tool, this vacuum is both great to use around the house and in the garage for simple cleanup tasks. The Black & Decker CHV1410B Dustbuster 14.4V Cordless Hand Vacuum is a fantastic new addition to the long Dustbuster lineage that goes back over 30 years. Cleanups for these types of messes should still be left up to larger size wet/dry vacuums. We did find that there was certain situations that the Dustbuster was not adequate for sucking up heavy things like screws, nails or large wood chips. The appeal that the Dustbuster has to us is that it is a cordless, lightweight vacuum that is always at the ready to clean up small messes. The built in extension made it handy when we were trying to get into places like around the gas peddle and in between the seats. We found that the Dustbuster had adequate power to suck up most of the debris and dirt that was on the carpets in the vehicle. Once the vacuum was charged we went to town cleaning up one of our company cars. While the included system worked just fine, it seems like a major design flaw – and we think that in future generations we would like to see a more integral hanging mount and charger. It would seem to us that if you were to make a hanging station, the charger would be built into the support and act like a charging cradle. While we like the idea of being able to hang it up so that it is always in a convenient place and ready to go, we didn’t really appreciate that to charge the battery we still had to insert a separate plug into the top of the tool. The first thing that we did with the Black & Decker CHV1410B Dustbuster 14.4V Cordless Hand Vacuum was to install the included hanging bracket on the wall in our shop so that we had a place to store it while it was charging. The B&D CHV1410B Dustbuster 14.4V Cordless Hand Vacuum made quick work of the debris in our company car. Also there is an indicator light on the top of the vacuum that lets you know the status of the battery charge. The charging system for this vacuum is Energy Star approved, soit saves energy and helps protect the batteries. That means the suction power stays strong for far longer than traditional designs. As for the features that you don’t see, the motor and filter design is such that a cyclonic action is induced so that the spinning action of the air inside the dust bowl actually helps keep the dust from collecting on the filter. The dirt cup will hold over a pound and a half of dirt and dust too. The other really nifty features of the nozzle end of this Dustbuster is that it rotates so that now you have yet more flexibility as to where you can clean. The wide mouth of the nozzle makes it easy to suck up even large size debris like grass or leaves. Also built into the nozzle end of the tool is a brush attachment that simply swings out of the way when it is not needed. The crevice tool is built into the nozzle end of the vacuum and all you have to do is give it a slight pull and it extends out giving you about 50% further reach over the previous generation Dustbuster. The 14.4V battery is integral to the motor housing and is not replaceable. The overall size of the vacuum is compact and lightweight with a good balance that makes it simple to wield with just one hand. With a translucent dirt bowl, it is easy to see when it is getting full and inside the dirt bowl is a filter that can be cleaned and re-used. The Black & Decker CHV1410B Dustbuster 14.4V Cordless Hand Vacuum has a number of key features that make it a logical choice if you are looking to pick up such a tool. © 2023 Hookshot Media, partner of ReedPop. Within this category, the greatest emitter is Manufacturing (purchased goods and services), responsible for a substantial 157 million tons of CO2. Within the Scopes framework, it's evident that Scope 3 takes the lead as the largest contributor to carbon emissions, generating a substantial 211 million tons of CO2 over the years.Ī significant portion of this comes from the Product Life Cycle Emissions category, accounting for 209 million tons of CO2. Together, these three models released a total of 181 kg CO2, indicating a promising shift in Apple's environmental efforts. Recent models like the iPhone 13 (2021), iPhone 14 (2022), and iPhone 15 (2023) with 128GB baseline storage have shown a positive trend, aligning with Apple's sustainability goals. Products with a storage baseline of 32GB, like the iPhone 6s (2015) and iPhone 7 (2016), together contributed 110 kg CO2, displaying impressive eco-friendly attributes, especially considering their early release in Apple's carbon neutrality journey. Notably, in 2017, the release of iPhone X and iPhone 8 contributed 12.4% and 8.9% of the total emissions, respectively. Total carbon emissions from all Apple product models over the years amount to 639 kg.Īmong baseline storage variants, the 64GB storage models have left the largest carbon footprint, totaling 348 kg CO2 over the years. In contrast, the eco-conscious iPhone 6s and iPhone 7 displayed the lowest carbon footprints at 54 kg and 56 kg CO2, contributing 8.5% and 8.8% to the total emissions.Ĭarbon Footprints: Models, Baseline Storage and the Evolution Over Time: Alongside it, the iPhone 8, released in the same year, contributed 57 kg CO2 and held an 8.9% share of emissions. The iPhone X's 79 kg CO2 footprint in 2017 left an indelible mark, representing 12.4% of the total emissions. Currently, Apple has already reduced its CO2 emissions by an impressive 47.2% compared to the baseline year of 2015.īeyond Carbon Neutrality: Unlocking Apple's Environmental Commitment:įurthermore, analysis indicates that Apple is on track to surpass their 2030 target, with projected emissions exceeding the goal by 35.5% in that year. It is anticipated that this goal will be successfully achieved as early as 2027, showcasing the remarkable progress made. Beginning with 38 million tons of CO2 emissions in 2015, the company aims to reach an impressive milestone by the end of 2030, targeting a reduction to just 9.6 million tons of CO2. The culmination of the project involved the visualization of key insights on Apple's journey to carbon neutrality, where the primary focus was dedicated to crafting impactful visuals that tell the story effectively.Īpple set new goals an ambitious mission is to dramatically reduce their carbon emissions. Notably, the data provided in the tables required relatively minimal effort in these preliminary steps. The project began with the acquisition and import of three critical CSV tables from Maven Analytics: "Greenhouse Gas Emissions" detailing emissions by category and scope from 2015 to 2022, "Carbon Footprint by Product" outlining emissions from baseline iPhone models released between 2015-2022, and "Normalizing Factors" containing revenue, market capitalization, and employee data for the same period.ĭata preprocessing, profiling, and cleaning were executed in Power Query, followed by data modeling and the creation of DAX measures. This endeavor involves reducing emissions by 75% from the 2015 baseline (38.4 million metric tons CO2e), with the remaining 25% to be offset through carbon credits, ultimately reaching net-zero emissions. Apple, having achieved carbon neutrality in its corporate operations in 2020, set an ambitious goal to make its products carbon neutral by 2030. By one estimate, it says, nearly 9,000 fugitive slaves passed through Philadelphia between 18. Pennsylvania and New York were the most organised networks, often centred in local churches, according to the Smithsonian’s National Museum of African American History and Culture. “Even though I’m not a fan of the Colson Whitehead book in terms of a romanticised idea of freedom and the inaccurate use of the train escapes, I’m hoping it will cause people to take a look at why the underground railroad was needed, help them understand there’s always been injustice, and help turn the tide of how they look at people who are still oppressed.” While she is less enamoured of Whitehead’s use of artistic licence, she will watch the Amazon adaptation and welcome the conversation it sparks. She admires the movie’s accuracy in depicting the courage of freedom seekers and abolitionists working at great personal risk. Jones wept all the way through Harriet, a 2019 film starred Cynthia Erivo as Harriet Tubman, one of the best-known conductors of the underground railroad. When you think about the freedom seekers and the narratives they told after they had got free, you realise quickly who the real hero of the story was. “They did need people to help but abolitionists were white, Black, Native American they weren’t just white. They were the genesis of their own movement. They weren’t helpless people sitting on a plantation waiting for the white abolitionists to come and get them. You have to realise the risks that freedom seekers had to take, how they escaped, why they escaped, the dangers or problems they encountered on their flight to freedom. Jones says: “In many of the accounts that you read, the abolitionists seem to be the heroes and, not to take anything away from their heroic actions, but what the freedom seekers did is downplayed. On the far left, abolitionist leader, Harriet Tubman and others. Black people with access to education and resources, such as Robert Purvis and William Whipper of Philadelphia, offered political influence and legal assistance. Historical tellings of the underground railroad have also tended to emphasise “white saviours”, such as Quakers, while underplaying the role of African Americans who provided shelter, clothing, food and money. Tracks and trains are not the only common misconception. It was cryptic language to be able to assist people to do what they needed to do.” So people could freely talk about it and people hearing the conversation may have simply thought they were talking about a railroad line or a railroad station, which it wasn’t. A conductor simply would have been someone who would take freedom seekers from one place to the other. “For example, a depot was not a train station at all it could have been a graveyard, a river, a barn, a place in the woods. Jones explained: “About the time when the underground railroad started, trains had started to crisscross the country, specifically the Baltimore-Ohio line, so abolitionists and freedom seekers found that they could freely talk about movement simply by referring to things in terms of railroad vocabulary. How, then, did this rail metaphor come about? It was all to do with time, place and speaking in code. I don’t want CGI.’ And so we found a private rail network and we built our tunnels above them.” I want real tracks, real trains, real tunnels. The 10-part series’ director, Barry Jenkins, whose credits include the Oscar-winning film Moonlight, recalled at a virtual press conference: “I told Mark Friedberg, our production designer: ‘This can’t be fake. But along with cotton fields, plantations and woods, it is equally persuasive in its depiction of underground steam trains that offer light at the end of the tunnel. The gap between the literal and the metaphorical was explored by The Underground Railroad, a Pulitzer Prize-winning 2016 novel by Colson Whitehead, which reimagined actual trains thundering beneath the soil.Ī big-budget-small-screen adaptation, which is now available on Amazon Prime, delivers a combination of ravishing cinematography and elemental suffering (there was a therapist on set) reminiscent of Steve McQueen’s 12 Years a Slave. “The underground railroad was just a metaphor for a movement of people to be able to organise a network of abolitionists and freedom seekers.” “When people hear ‘railroad’, they automatically think it was a train,” Jones adds. It was, in fact, a network of secret routes and safe houses used by thousands of enslaved people to flee from the south to free states and Canada in the early to mid-19th century. Jones notes that the first thing people tend to get wrong about the underground railroad is assuming that a series of subterranean trains, tunnels and platforms branched out like the London Underground or New York subway. However, Canyon’s frame adjustability offers far more fine-tuning of the bike’s geometry. The main differences that consumers will note when comparing things beyond travel and components are suspension platforms, geometry, and adjustability.Īdjustability: When it comes to wheel sizes, Trek takes the point for being able to accommodate full 29, mullet or 27.5” wheels. We have done some very in-depth features on both bikes in the past, which you can find at the links below, so we’ll keep this feature a bit more focused on the performance and head-to-head test. While the bikes may share some features and intended applications, there are plenty of differences to be found in both design and ride. THE CONTENDERSīoth the Canyon Sender CFR and the Trek Session 9 are race-ready downhill machines featuring 29-inch wheels, Rock Shox suspension packages, SRAM drivetrain, and 200mm of bump-eating travel. We couldn’t think of two better downhill bikes to Face Off against each other. Since then, the new high pivot Trek Session 9 has not only impressed our staff but has won a number of medals on the World Cup Downhill circuit. If you remember, last year I made a very bold claim that the Canyon Sender CFR was my all-time favorite downhill bike. While there are a number of very capable downhill bikes on the market, The Canyon Sender CFR and Trek Session 9 have earned a special place in our hearts and for that reason, we wanted to take them out for some timed laps and back-to-back swaps to see how they’d do. It is an absolutely euphoric experience to let downhill bikes, the pinnacle of our sport, tackle the gnarliest and steepest terrain as fast as possible. Not many things in life get our blood flowing the way pointing purebred DH bikes at chunky downhill trails does. |
